Location

Hawkins, Texas

Jarvis Christian University is located one mile east of Hawkins, Texas, and four miles west of Big Sandy. There are plenty of other Texas cities accessible within a radius of 30 miles, including Mineola, Gladewater, Tyler, and Longview. Jarvis is free from the noise and smog of the big city and is conducive for study, but retains access to neighboring metropolitan areas. The campus is situated in an attractive wooded area of about 1,000 acres, providing adequate room for future expansion. The campus proper covers approximately 243 acres. It is approximately 95 miles east of Dallas and 95 miles east of Shreveport, Louisiana, accessible via Interstate 20 for airline connections to all parts of the United States and foreign countries.

Spiritual Life

Several opportunities exist for students to participate in spiritual and religious groups and organizations. In addition The Smith-Howard Chapel is located within the James Nelson Ervin Religion and Culture Center and has historically provided cultural and religious activities at the College. For more than a century, the James Nelson Ervin Religion and Culture Center has served the spiritual needs presented each week from the Chapel pulpit by some of the most distinguished speakers and preachers and outstanding national and world leaders.
