How would you like to carve out some time in your day to meet with an admission officer and potentially walk away with an acceptance in hand? It’s happening all across the country on college campuses. Same-day acceptance, also known as instant decision day, is becoming more popular with transfer students looking to decrease the stress level and time commitment that comes with applying to a new university. While the most selective schools aren’t typically part of this process, there are lots of wonderful universities that do participate.
Here’s how it works: admission reps from universities will visit a community college campus to host these one-day events. Prior to an instant decision day, you will need to register and submit your application with official transcripts to the college you’re interested in. On the day of your appointment, be sure to bring copies of your official high school transcript, college transcript(s), and any standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, etc.). During the meeting, you will have the opportunity to discuss your academic record (especially any oddities on your transcript), expand on your accomplishments, and share your goals. This is a great time to highlight those unique things about you that aren’t included in your application. At the end of the day, you could be offered admission to the school, saving you from an agonizing wait for an acceptance letter in the mail.
