There are lots of ways to get acquainted with your new classmates. Facebook and other social networking sites provide an online way to meet people even before you get there. Think about getting involved as soon as you arrive on campus with clubs or sports that interest you so that you can begin to build your network of friends. If there’s a club associated with your major, join it. Talk with faculty members to find out what activities, lectures, and campus events are the most important to the community, and get involved. And definitely make the extra effort to simply get to know your peers and classmates. You can't make friends if you don't put your best foot forward.
