Visual Arts at CBU
The Department of Visual & Performing Arts offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Art and minors in Theatre Arts, Graphic Design, and Visual Art. The BFA in Visual Art requires students to choose a concentration in either Graphic Design or Studio Arts. As a fine arts student, you will be challenged to combine your creative and intellectual processes while learning to communicate beyond the academic spectrum. At CBU, our students are guided in all aspects of their Lasallian education to become imaginative problem solvers who create individual and socially relevant works of art. Through small classroom numbers, students enjoy personalized instruction at the highest academic level, rapidly developing a sense of community with their peers and professors through on-campus and citywide activities.
The study of art history is a vital part of all Visual Art concentrations. It places art in a historical context along with religious, cultural, and social issues forming a deeper understanding of how art contributes to our rapidly changing world. In the Department of Visual & Performing Arts, students will have many opportunities to become aware of global issues in the arts through local exhibitions and performances, internships, visits to campus by artists from around the world, and study abroad programs.
