College of Engineering and Polymer Science at the University of Akron
The University of Akron’s (UA) College of Engineering and Polymer Science offers traditional programs steeped in legacy as well as newer programs that have emerged to serve today's most pressing engineering programs.
Paid experience and industry connections
Our Co-op and Placement Office staff provide year-round support, helping students secure paid co-op positions, develop interview and résumé skills, and land a full-time job.
Student design teams—including Zips Racing and the Akronauts, our rocketry team—also provide you with unforgettable learning experiences. Students design and build projects and participate in national and international competitions against other colleges. Whether you’re into rockets, race cars, remote control airplanes, or robots, there is something for everyone here—in fact, 97% of our spring 2022 Engineering graduates participated in some form of experiential learning.
Inclusive and exceptional learning community
Our experienced and dedicated professors are passionate about helping you on your path to becoming a future engineer or computer scientist. Learn from them in an inclusive community that appreciates your unique background and experience. The College’s faculty bring their industry experience to the classroom, having worked previously with industrial giants such as the Timken Co., Goodyear, Ohio Aerospace Institute, NASA Glenn Research Center, and more. As accomplished researchers, they tackle everything from cancer and Chiari malformation to corrosion.
