A vibrant creative community
The College of Music & Performing Arts (CMPA) is a vibrant creative community with nationally recognized and accredited programs in the School of Music and the Department of Theatre & Dance. CMPA’s excellent artist-faculty teach and mentor through innovative curriculums and experiences to prepare students to thrive in 21st-century arts careers. “My primary goal at Belmont is to provide students with a solid foundation of skills and knowledge upon which they may continue their studies in graduate school or become professional musicians," says Alex Graham, Associate Professor of Saxophone. Abundant opportunities are provided for students to connect and learn through study away, internships, guest artists, and alumni appearances.

Arts in the heart of Nashville
Belmont’s beautiful campus is located in the heart of Nashville, a thriving creative city full of opportunities in the performing arts. CMPA offers a variety of ways for students to gain professional experience and serve the Nashville community and beyond. CMPA has partnerships with companies and organizations, including the W.O. Smith Community Music School, Epiphany Modern Dance Company, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, and the Nashville Opera. Several national music and theatre organizations have active campus chapters. Music Education majors spend a semester teaching and Music Therapy majors are placed in health care facilities. The student-led Belmont Reparatory Theatre performs in elementary schools. Several music ensembles tour regionally and internationally.
