Video: Exploring the Top 3 Study Spots on Campus

What's the best place to study in college? That's really up to you, but Andy's here to show you the pros and cons of three popular study spots on campus.

Finding a place on campus you feel comfortable studying is extremely important to your success as a college student. But where’s the best place on campus to study? Andy checked out a few places on the University of Kentucky campus to help you figure out where you might study best. Check out the video below!

Campus coffee shop

Nothing pairs better with cramming for a test than a caramel mocha or a black coffee if you're really tired—but is a coffeehouse the best place to study? It’s a good place to go if you require caffeine and pastries to help you focus, but you may have trouble finding a spot during busy periods. And the espresso machine alone might knock you off your game if you’re distracted by loud noises. Then again, some people thrive in chaos, so this could be the perfect spot if you need a little noise to focus.

Library

You might think the library is the obvious choice for where to study. But is it? Friends, noisy patrons who can't follow rules, and lack of space in quiet areas might make studying more difficult in the library. Explore different areas to see what works for you before committing to one spot—and maybe leave your friends behind if you need to focus. But the library can also be ideal if you have research to do or could use the assistance of a peer tutor or other resources your library offers.

Your dorm room

Your dorm room might be a good place to study if you can remove all the inherent distractions. If you’re good about ensuring you stick to the task, you will likely feel perfect because it’s private, quiet (or as quiet as you want it to be), and comfy. But you'll have to plan study time around your roommate, so if you can’t make your dorm room the perfect study space, you may want to consider a new location. Or maybe you're lucky and live in a single room; in which case, why would you study anywhere else?

There's no one right place to study in college—but we think you already know that. This is just a friendly reminder to try out new things! If you find yourself in a study rut where you just can't focus in your dorm, head over to the library. If the library isn't cutting it and the weather is nice, catch some rays and study at the same time at a pretty spot on campus. You don't have to pick one spot and stick to it. Routines are good, but if it's just not working anymore, it's time for a new routine. Have a great semester!

CollegeXpress has helped me find so many scholarships that fit me. They match me to colleges I have specific interest in to make searching for colleges way easier and more efficient. CollegeXpress refers me to schools that have my major of interest and backup schools if I want to change my mind. CollegeXpress also gives out their own scholarships, so you have even more of a chance at gaining multiple scholarships. This website has helped me de-stress from the pressure of not being able to afford college, [of finding] what schools are right for me, and how to find easy access to scholarships that most people never knew existed.
